Dead by Daylight: A Lullaby for the Dark

For those who aren’t aware Dead by Daylight is an online multiplayer (4 vs. 1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer and the other four players are Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.

It’s been out for a little over a year and it’s still the one game I’ve been playing more than anything else. Which is kind of funny since I used to play an array of games from Borderlands 2, The Darkness, Fire Emblem and Command & Conquer. (Yeah, Command & Conquer – there are just some games I will never be able to break away from, haha)

Dead by Daylight has been consistent in bringing new Killers, Survivors, maps, perks and add-ons. They’ve recently introduced the Huntress – the new Killer within the DLC A Lullaby for the Dark. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t beyond stoked about this new addition to the game.

Being the third female Killer to be added to the roster, it’s a breath of fresh air. The last female Killer they introduced was the Hag and I for one wasn’t a fan whatsoever. Her unique ability is being able to teleport within the map. It was a bit of a learning curve to master and some add-ons makes the ability a bit more tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. I know some people love using the Hag but I just didn’t care for her. Not to mention the map that came with her is the bane of my existence. I’d rather be in Haddonfield and I don’t care for that map either (lol).

The new map is absolutely beautiful! It became my favorite instantly. Sadly I’ve only been able to play on it a few times. It seems to be a lot bigger than the other maps. There’s a certain eeriness to it as it’s dark, raining and things are just a tad bit too quiet if you get what I mean.

My favorite part about the Huntress is that she hums. So when you’re in a match and you can hear her humming she’s close by and it’s time to leave before she gets any closer. It’s kind of nerve wrecking because just because you can hear her humming doesn’t necessarily mean she’s super close. It’s a different type of scary when comparing it to Michael Myers where you aren’t notified of his whereabouts unless he’s in Evil Within II or III. The only thing people may be upset about is that the Huntress can throw hatchets. I’ve even been in matches where she can throw them halfway across the damn map. HALFWAY ACROSS THE MAP OKAY. That’s a bit of a stretch and has scared me a few times as I couldn’t see her but I got injured. Per usual people are complaining that she’s OP but they’ve literally said that about every single Killer in this game so they shouldn’t have been that surprised. She does walk a bit slow and her range isn’t the greatest (with melee attacks) but aside from that I think she’s one of the best Killers they’ve ever released. Now, if they can release some better Survivors…..

Along with the new Killer and a new map there is also a new Survivor named David King. I don’t know much of how he plays in game as I haven’t gotten around to using him. He seems a little lack luster as there isn’t anything about him that stands out as opposed to other characters they’ve introduced into the game which is a bit of a bummer but what can ya do. His unique perks don’t really do much for me either as I tend to use stealth and enjoy the self-care perk ala Claudette. To each their own, it’s all a matter of how you’re wanting to play the game. Unfortunately everyone has been a bit of a troll so matches have been tedious more so than challenging and actually fun. Hopefully that changes but in the mean time just gotta roll with the punches.

A Lullaby for the Dark is a free DLC that comes with the newest patch release. Dead by Daylight is available for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The newest DLC isn’t available for the consoles just yet but I’m sure it will be added shortly.

Have you played as the Huntress or David King? What are your thoughts?
